First Mechanical Failure on SSEi
Alternator
Luckily,as few may recall, last august 7th my alternator died on the olds 88, I stole the alternator from the SSEi, now I stole the alternator which was on the olds 88 from the ssei, and now it is on the current ssei.
The alternator that failed was a delco rebuild with less than 8,000 miles on it, have Dealership receipt.
Either way I think I might go with a duralast from AZ. I should add it was a 105AMP and that is what I replaced it with. Odd, my last ssei had a 105, this one came with one and I put another on there.
HOW did it fail...you are going to laugh. The bolt that conects the wire that goes to the battery, well that bolt was loose, like I can spin it all the way around, it should have a wire at the end of it but it appears it broke off. It produced 0 volts over 12.2 which was what the battery was at by the time I got home to do the swap. I did it in 22 minutes, last year it was 18. I had trouble finding a socket to get the far bolt towards the firewall on the ssei.

from now on I am going to the junkyard and picking up a spare and have tools in the car to change it. Thankfully my voltage light works on the dash.
Finally I am kinda supprised this current on I have on there has lasted so long, with over 1000W RMS in the trunk on the last car and the same setup in this car I figured it would last 6 months. Also keep in mind the ssei had a severe overheating problem.
so what kind should I buy? 140amp delco? or 140 from autozone with a lifetime warranty?

A 140 amp Delco or maybe Duralast ("Bulit to last; Duralast"). Maybe even look over some alts from that company that produces the high amp alternators if your asking some much from you alt.

yeah maybe. At least they have liftetime warrantys. easy exchange if it fails, that cannot be said for other types.

I went with the DURALAST at AZ when mine went. I have about 20,000 miles on mine so far and that was about 4 years ago, and yes it has the lifetime warrenty
