Default Engine went down any suggestions? (Final Musings)

I have been trying to convince the dealer who sold me the car that the intakes were failing. They are not too swift, and last Monday did a pressure check and said the plugs looked fine. Well, it ends up I was still losing some coolant, and the plugs weren't "fine".

FWIW, sordid details...
http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ic.php?t=66322

Anyway, I'm driving it up to them and the engine light comes on. I wanted to stop, but it'* a few miles to get off of the highway. By the time I pull over, I have "low coolant" light on and "traction control off" lit. So I'm figuring i cooked it but good. Got a tow and dropped it after hours, so I have to go at them tomorrow.

Good news. 200 miles left on GM (Saturn dealer) certified warranty.

Bad news. We all know these guys are going to fix it on the cheap to get me past the warranty.

The only thing I can figure to do is push up the ranks and get them to further warrant anything that might have been effected by this. And when I get it back, take it to a dealer or diagnostic center and have it checked. ??

From what i have read, It just seems that everything in the block has been compromised.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Yeah, if coolant gets into the bearings, it can cook em real fast.

After your help I was going there loaded for bear. i was going to pull the plugs right in front of their mechanic and ask him if he ever saw healthy sparkplugs that had white electrodes and only burned on one side.

If it coulda just held on a few more miles....

I have to take it there to kick in the warranty. "All work performed by Saturn of the Valley" or their designated agent. They will send it to a nearby Pontiac dealer who they are best buddies with. They did that another time they had a problem they couldn't figure out.

I would love a Jasper dropped in. Ya know I didn't think about it. I shouldn't have played nice guy and kept driving the thing till it completely exploded. I wouldn't have this semi state of engine limbo

Jasper engines are good, but GM reman engines have a longer warranty...can't really say if its BETTER, but its longer.

Nice to know. Thanks for the tip.

edit: I talked to a "preferred" Jasper engine/trans shop awhile back. The shop caps the head, too. Guess what Jasper recommends..... metal LIM, Fel-pro top gasket, and a DORMAN crown.

They must follow this site.

yeah, they rebuild alot of engines to be like 200% better than OE. Transmissions the same. Most of their stuff lasts like twice as long i heard so...hah, definitely, i would go with Jasper before anyone else.

I'm pretty sure after replacing a part like that (full engine) they are required to give you some sort of additional warranty on that part. I would check with the dealership/warranty company. If they say no, I would contact GM directly and ask what the situation would be if it was a new car with 500 miles left on the warranty (IE factory warranty, not aftermarket) then you have something to argue with if GM would extend the warranty.

Good luck,
Erik

Just about any dealer has a blanket warranty on repairs performed by them. That'* one of the reasons we are supposed to go to "Mr Goodwrench" and pay out the wazoo. Because they back up their work. I just don't think some crappy 30 day warranty will do.

That'* just another thing i will have to find out

I have to calm down for tomorrow morning. I am so p!$$ed over this that i may not get anything positive accomplished if I go in this state of mind.
