Default Chirp when locking or unlocking with remote

Several months back there was a discussion on here about whether or not earlier model Bonnies without alarm systems can be made to "chirp" when remotely locked or unlocked.

I think the consensus was that it wasn't possible or somehow difficult to do.

Mine now makes a pleasant "chirp" thanks to an old alarm siren and a few splices into the door lock wires. Siren had 3 wires, a ground, and a wire for 2 different alarm sounds. I spliced one into the lock system and the other into the unlock system. Now I can tell from 20 ft away if the car locked/unlocked or not. No more guessing.

On my car I can toggle the DIC so the horn beeps as well as the lights flash or just the lights flash. I personally don't like the noise around where I live but in Vancouver large unfamiliar parking lots I use it in order to locate where I parked it.

So if you just bought a old alarm horn does that mean that you could get them in differnt sounds?

having built in options like that in the DIC is something they should have done YEARS ago.

I love mine. Lock response, unlock response, auto door locking, curb view assist mirror options, etc. Good stuff.

That'* pretty cool. I thought about doing the same thing until someone mentioned that if you had a smart@** passenger who figured out they could honk the horn with the lock button, it would get annoying.

Is the chirp an adequate length? If you hold down the lock button on the door, does the siren stay on?

No, the locking mechanism (at least on mine) seems to just send a pulse. Plus I put the siren in the trunk so it'* not very loud outside. Just enough so that I know when the doors lock and unlock.

That is impressively innovative of you John to devise such a device. You should post a separate thread with pics on how to do for others to copy.
