You don't NEED steering wheel controls and HUD, right? It'* a creature option.

The tire ratings are one criteria for what PMD used to determin your cars limiter. Another is the suspension it has. They also limited them in order to find favor with the DOT.

I believe all of the 92 and 93 SSE/*/C and the SSEi models came from the factory with Z rated tires. I always keep Z or V tires on my car because they grip the road so well, without any skidding around corners.

fuddy, whats your tire size? I have 235 55 16 on mine now. I guess when i go to the car I will look at that sticker again to see what the actual size is for my car. I thoughtZrated tires were 245 and up for some reason.

To answer an earlier question, my RPO label shows Z rated tires from the factory. You don't need the door sticker to tell you that.

Curious...why would GM install unlimited speed rated performance tires on a production car limited at 128 mph?

Euh...GM for ya :P

ssesc93, your stock tire size should be 225 60 R 16. Someone upgraded you to a meatier tire. The 235 55 R 16 is a wider tire with roughly the same diameter as the factory tire. Z tires come in many low profile sizes.

Jim W, the answer is bragging rights.

That sounds right, except they are known as 225 60 ZR 16.
