Buying a 1992 Bonneville SE
Hey everyone,
I am new to the forum, but have found it very helpful so far!! I am looking at buying a 1992 Bonneville SE, black with gray interior, console shift. It is owned by the 2nd owner who bought it in 1993. They have taken really good care of the car. It has 160,000 miles on it. Does the 1992 model have the intake manifold that commonly fails, causing the coolant to mix with the oil? Also, the headliner is drooping down some. It appears that there are some moisture spots or could this be the glue used on the headliner? I'm not too familiar with these cars. I am going to take it to a mechanic tomorrow to look at it and let me know his thoughts. They are asking $2,000. She said they will not take less than $2 because two years ago she spent almost 5k on the car.... new paint job, tires, and I'm not sure what all... I'm supposed to see receipts today or tomorrow. They "fixed it up" for her son'* first car but have since bought him a truck and it'* time to sell Black Bonnie. Any comments would be appreciated. I would be purchasing this car for my younger sister'* first car. I have looked online all over in the 1800-2300 range and haven't found anything that seems mechanically sound. I drove this car and it seemed to drive great, shift smooth, etc.
Thanks,
Nick
