Hey everyone, I have a couple of qeustions for you guys and was hoping that I could get some help here.

The deal is i am currently driving a 91 Bonneville SE, I love the car and loved since the moment i got it. But now I have got some extra cash and looking in to buying a newer bonneville, preferrelby a 92-93 SSE orSSEi. I am just not to sure whats the difference between the two (just the supercharger) or there is something more. Also when I go and look at the car what should I pay attention to, if there is someting i should check to make sure the car is in good condition. Any suggestions will be appriciated. Let'* just say the SSE isn't supercharged (it'* an option) for this discussion. The SSE uses the L27 engine, the SSEi uses the L67. The L27 in 92 had no EGR valve, which can cause problems. Stay away from a 92 SSE if it has no Supercharger for this reason.

The 93 L67 was a little more refined than the 92, mainly in the valvetrain. I'd go 93 with either the SSE or the SSEi. All options on the SSEi are AVAILABLE on the SSE, but not all SSE'* are fully loaded. You'll have to do some comparisons.

Look for a fine layer of dust on the engine/trans. A super-clean engine MIGHT mean that they cleaned the engine to hide something. Smooth, firm shifts, test ABS and Traction, use the procedure in Techinfo to pull codes from the PCM. All the normal stuff

and if it'* supercharged ..make sure to listen for a whinnnnnnnnnne Is the plastic upper intake manifold a problem on the L27'*? ..if so, then going supercharged would be smarter due to the aluminum intake manifold.

L27 upper intakes are fine. But check for SC rattle at idle. It'* a cheap fix, but also a bargaining point if it makes noise.
