It probably got dinged up in shipping.

I don't think gave is the right term on the motor. There was a trade, I traded him a motor, he traded me a pile of green paper.

Fair enough. I hope you're replacing it with something even better.

I sold it before Christmas.

I replaced it with an invisble motor that doesn't tear ISS reluctors off the drive gears in transmissions. There'* only so much breakage a person can take before they scream "uncle". I said I would give the Bonne one last chance when i built the transmission myself. That trans has a power related issue inside of it and I pulled the drivetrain. No more of that...I'll stick to a mild build in my "stock" Regal thanks.

I see your reasoning Bill. It'* hard to take an engine to it'* brink of self destruction and use it on the street with any reliability. Best left to track guys and shops selling performance parts. No such thing as Max Power and Reliable. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

So I guess we have to wait for Danthurs now for the next installment of, "What I broke this time" ;-P.

Despite the "fail'*" the Forum owes you both alot of kudo'* for all you have done to prove out what can be done with the 3800, and how to overcome some of the frailties of deep modding.

You hit something on the head there John. The motor was always and has always been rock solid for me. My first..I goofed on the engine stand, second was junk when I got it, this block was the third and a good motor. My issue has always been the transmissions. Sure they are built up and built to take punishment, yet the daily and constant pummelling I gave mine proved out only one thing.. that I had this crazy abilty to rip input shaft sensor reluctor wheels off the drive gear. I've only heard of one other person with that uncanny ability and one day maybe we'll have a couple of beers over that one. It'* a simple little wheel that goes around in front of a sensor, I trashed three channel plates in the process, tore 5 or so of them off the drive gears. It'* unheard of in the 3800 community. Yet my build wasn't the biggest, baddest or most powerful out there. I'm kinda thinking that my right foot was/is a mean character.

That will be one mean GTP... and is that a Gen V or a nicely bored and powdercoated Gen III SC on the table?

btw I feel for that tranny going in with the history behind your beastly motor... hope you gave the guy the 411 on the number of trannies that engine has destroyed

<epic... your engine to transmissions
