I dont know I have not paid for the car yet I am still very mad I though it was a joke when he said it was the axle because I am thinking hmm since when does the axles have gears like that? When I would put the car into drive and give it gas the speedo would go flying up to 160 and when I put it in park a CRAZY grinding nosie came about I dont think that has ANYTHING to do with the axles any more input guys

Thanks

Those pics are the planetary gears from a differential. The aluminum pieces are the output (diff) housing. Your mechanic is lying to you so he doesn't have to cover it.

Want me to take a pic of my differential that I have sitting right here next to me?

This is simply a railroad job. Plain as day.

Actually they are the spider gears, the planetaries are the smaller ridge cylindrical gears on the outside of the differential that go rotate around the sun gear on the output shaft. It is definately a failed differential and nothing to do with the axle.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. Sadly, it happens all too often at transmission repair businesses.

In your case there'* no doubt that'* the differential that exploded. There are clear signs of excessive wear on the spider gears and shaft. if your car isn't capable of spinned the tires on dry pavement, then maybe winter driving is the cause with a lot of wheelspin involved, 1 wheel spin that is. This is a known weakness.

I hope you're able to have them complete the repair under warranty, but that looks doubtfull at this point.

Redline Transmission in Scarbourogh is a place I can highly recommed. I had my tranny done there, and I went back for service a year later, that'* 1,100 Kms for me return.

If you end up looking for a used tranny, check out Logel'* in Kitchener. I've been there twice for parts, that'* 1,400 Kms for me.

Hope it works out for the best!

Cheers,

if they don't warranty it they are shady

but on a side note you have ben very hard on it so it might be a toss up neither of my cars could do a burn out even peg-leg but at 6500 feet we lack the air to go full out

both of mine have got trans issues dropping out of OD when warmed up and the Ei slips around corners but they are still holding in after 1 and 2 years perspectively i just don't dog on them much and get good mileage to boot

When I obliterated my axle the differential was flawless although the diff housing cover was cracked.

It is more likely in this case that teh differential failed (either locked or destroyed itself) which in turn caused the axle to fail.
