The poor fuel economy primarily... As well, the short gearing likes to keep the engine out of the low-end powerband... I drive like a granny (at age 18, go figure), I don't need the ZOMG ACCELERATION!!11 :(
I cruise 60mph right at 2000rpm, while that isn't bad at all relative to other cars, I'd personally like to be even a little lower...

Primarily for mileage since I drive so much. It'* been a while since I had the Cutty so I forgot, but I do remember it at a higher rpm while cruising. It was a fun car to drive though, very revvy compared to my 3.06 in the Bonne prior to it.With my 2.97 now I cruise at 66mph at 2000 rpms, 60mph at 1800/1900 rpms.

The Older 88-91 SSE was better suited with the 2.97 gear ratio... The 3.33 was just too light and the 3800 ran out of breath too quick... Keep in mind that the 3800 redlined at 5200 and was well out of its peak by then...
The 2.8'* and 3.1'* could spin 5500-6000 iirc and as they didn't make the strong low end torque the 3.33 gears were used with most of them... 3200-3300 ld car with a 2.8 would need 3.33 gears in my opinion...
But the 3.33 gears sure do make a Bonneville really driveable in town... But I have no complaints about my 2.84 91 LE in town.... lol

well, my car is an absolute base model with power windows and locks as the only option, the car had hubcaps when it was new......so i am pretty sure i have the 2.84.
