if i ever wanted to change me gear ratio to like a 2.93 or a 3.06 does that mean a whole transmision swap?

Not that its easy to do at all but... you can get a 3.06 or 3.33 out of your trans by changing your diff and sun gear.
Then you'll need pcm programming. A stock 3.06 96' pcm will work with a 3.06 but your kind of SOL with the 3.33.

i believe a 96 ssei would have a 2.93, right? so if i get one of those chains with less teeth is that the only difference, and then get a reprogrammed pcm or sumthing?

It'* alot of work to change the chain and gears. It'* much easier to do the diff swap. And I don't think you'll really need a hd trans unless your gonna boost it.

yeah, my speedo is fast by like 13mph, so i have to get that calibrated, but just from having a smaller diameter of the tires does that make the car faster bye rotating the tires more turns with less energy?
