Default Bonneville SE Check Gages Light Flashing

I bought my car (1992 Pontiac Bonnevile SE with 83,000 miles on it) used on December 14, 2009. This is the first issue I've had with it, but the check gages light started flashing tonight. I'm not sure if it'* due to the gas being low (I've tried to keep it at half tank) or if it'* something else. Everything looks fine to me, but I'm no mechanic.

Anyone ever had this issue?

On my 95 if the gas gets low, the check gauges light will come on and I will get a couple ding ding ding'*. Toss some gas in and see if it will go away.

My 96 the gas gauge has to read 1/8th for the check gauges to light up.
