This is another dealer based site (Crown Cadillac in NJ) that sells parts online. They also would fall between GMPD and the dealer for price.

True, unless the site has it in stock and didn't have to order it.
None of those sites STOCK parts. They are all drop-shippers.
Not true about www.gmpartscheap.com. It'* the wholesale parts division of Liberty Chevrolet in New Hudson, MI. This is right from their website
We sell at wholesale prices and have a 97% 24 hour fulfill rate. If we do not stock the item. We can get it next day, if not same day at no extra charge to you.

mike, keep in mind that it is not GMPDs fault that the part is unavailable.. if its backordered with GMPD, its backordered at all dealers and it may be more difficult to find one locally any sooner, AND you would be paying double the price.
Yeah I understand that the light was backordered, I really don't have a problem with that.

What confuses me, though, is how the dealer down the street says that they can order it and have it within a week.

Definitely not true about Dal at Van Devere in Ohio, either. Many stocked parts there as well.

He stocks no more than any other typical dealer. Everything else is drop-shipped from the various warehouses, or shipped to the middle-man, then to you.

These are all DEALERSHIPS. They don't stock one of everything. Only the most commonly used parts.

True to an extent, but dealership inventories vary widely on the amount and kinds of parts stocked. Some are a little smarter than others, and some just stock more $$$ worth of inventory. All I can say is that I've used RMS several times, and Dal more times than I can count. Dal has forgotten more than most GM parts people will ever know.
