Airbag sensor placement
I'm mounting neons in my grill and the airbag sensor is in the way. What i want to do is mount the sensor upside down under my drivers side headlight. I know this is a pretty sensitive thing, but can i do this? Does the sensor have to be mounted right side up?
I'm also considering taking the sensor off permanently. Before you all yell "Safety!", this is the only vehicle i've ever driven with an airbag and i feel just as safe without one. If i do get in a wreck, i'll be more able to repair the car if the airbags don't deploy. So, can i "safely" remove the sensor?

you cant do that. if you unplug it , it will disable the airbag system and the light will come on the dash. they are made to fit in a certain way and if not, it will deploy the system when you least expect it. and it they blow, it may break the dash itself and defintly the windshield.

start the car, get a hammer, and smash it as hard as you can! IM KIDDDING DO NOT DO THAT...
Either disable the system compleatly or leave it, i wouldnt dare re locate it, think about going down the highway, hitting a rut, and your airbags deploying, can u say major wreck lol

also if you need to remove it for any reason, disconnect the battery and wait a min. of 30 mins before doing it, also take the loose battery terminal and touch it to the other terminal, but not when they are both connected to the battery, lol. this will discharge all e the juice stored in the car. and when you do remove it, unplug it before you do.
if you have HUD and eith bag blows, it will take the windshield out too, mine was $1100 last year before the install labor, thank god for 0 deductable comp.

As for triggering the air bags accidentally (e.g. hitting the sensor with a hammer), the system will not fire unless two of the three sensors are triggered within some microseconds of each other. So without agreement of at least two out of the three sensors, nothing will happen.

i learned this back in 88 at a GM training center in Fairfax,Va. the instructor told us to touch the two battery terminals together and it will release all stored energy in the system. it will drain every component in the car. but still wait atleast 30 mins.
