Default 97 BonneVille SE

I bought a bonneville 97 se 3 days ago and today, when it was in cruise control, the transmission started hesitating and it does it when it goes from like 3rd to 4th or 4th to Overdrive, the RPM'* do funky things as well when this happens, its not the motor though, its only got 39k Miles, and i hear a squeaking noise under the right side when i go at slow speeds, any ideas?

I saw something like this on a Consumer Guide website...hang on I'll find the link, they mentioned something about this prob. Not sure how much its going to cost, but it will be a start.

Welcome to the forum BTW...

Here we go...a list of all the trouble areas as listed on www.auto.consumerguide.com

Trouble Spots

Automatic transmission: 4T60E transmissions may drop out of drive while cruising; shift erratically; or have no second, third, or fourth gear because of a bad ground connection for the shift solenoids. (1992-94)
Automatic transmission: The 4T60E automatic transmission can suddenly go into neutral at highway speeds due to a problem with internal shift valves. (1995-97)

Cruise control: If the cruise control doesn't stay engaged, or drops out of cruise, the brake switch can usually be adjusted. (1992-95)

Engine noise: Bearing knock was common on many 3.3- and 3.8-liter engines due to too much clearance on the number-one main bearing. (1992-94)

Engine noise: A rattling noise from the engine when the car is started after sitting is often caused by automatic transmission pump starvation, or a sticking pressure regulator valve. (1992-95)

Oil consumption and engine knock: 3.8-liter engines are prone to excessive oil consumption often accompanied by spark knock due to failure of the valve stem seals. (1993-95)

Steering noise: The upper bearing mount in the steering column can get loose and cause a clicking, requiring a new bearing spring and turn signal cancel cam. (1994-96)

Transaxle leak: The right front axle seal at the automatic transaxle is prone to leak and GM issued a revised seal to correct the problem. (1992-94)

*re-read the second sentence...looks easy to fix

Hey BC pros...wanna pitch in for the newbie up here?

Explain the hesitading more. When I bought my 96 SE my car when going into overdrive, the rpm would skip up and then go into gear, it would jerk a bit too. I took it to the tranny mech. and it needed a reprogram kit is what it said on the bill. It was like 200$ to fix, does this sound like what your car is doing.

well the transmission doesnt appear to be doing plus it is a 1997 SE on the cars u listed asthe trouble spots from consumer reports doesnt match what mine is doing.... It might be that way im driving i dont know... The main problem im having is the right front squeaking noise when im going str8, its aggravating as ****, like i said ive had the car 3 days and hate it already..... so far i should have bought a honda i guess

He just said that out of frustration. Take the Bonne in and let you mechanic have a look, or at least talk it over
