Geez..ya ok, what a mess this post is becoming
I just wanted to see what the Aurora could do, I'm still a Bonneville guy, but sometimes I have to open the horse blinders a bit.
Now..yes, black SSEi is the way to go for me....the only way

ok...just finished reading over this again. Custom you made some excellent points. Although the Aurora doesn't have the balls of a SuperCharged Bonneville, it has a lot of other appeal.
Sorry, but I like lots of fluff in a car, luxury, class, elegance, its my thing really. I don't race, drag, or squak (unless I have too
) And a deal like this doesn't come around to often. I'm sure if I wanted I could do some pretty serious work to that V8 Northstar thats in there. Also, I know a lot of the parts are interchangable, so I'm not so worried about part costs.
I'm gettting to the point where I have to make some decisions now. The idea of the Series II SC is mighty tempting. More moving parts = more problems. My budget is limited right now, esp when I have to make mortgage payments. I need a car that will be dependable, strong, reliable and relatively new. Its seems I'm dropping 800-1100 clams on Bonneville repairs each time, I can't be doing that when I have 1100 per month mortgage payments :? . Don't get me wrong, I love the Bonnes, always have always will, I just gotta look at the bottom line.
Sometime the fish jumps into the boat for ya, and all you have to do is whack it with your paddle...this might be the time to jump....hey, at least its a nice car right?

Northstars will run fine As long as they had there engine oil changed 3000miles or less... But if it was doing the 5000-25000oil change... be prepared to spend C$14,000 (installed) for a new engine. Definatly get a mechanic to look it over... Also The north stars (4.6 anyway) had a C$2250(dealer fix) oil leak... almost 2quarts a week... But sence your looking into a 96ish it should already have the problems with the northstar fixed... Something that is **** to go on those cars are there engine struts(70buxx a piece installed)
my trofeo has them too but its a lighter engine.
aslong as you use your car like the tipical 'northstar' owner your engine will run for ever... But remeber these cars where made for retiries to drive to visit the grandkids 400kms over. So that inmind... Great fuel economy... Low noise... Struts on the engine!! NO vibration... DOHC... Able to get up and go! Also the ride... you dont feel speedbumps...
The people who live next to me have a 96 STS and thats exactly what they use it for... Not a problem... they've owned it sence 2000...
My buddy has a 95 Cougar with the ford 4.6 DOHC. He drives like a maniac and it always starts in the morning. DOHC engines are good engines, Its just they need to rev harder... But aslong as it has good oil in the cams it should run forever..
