For the record, the engine is not the biggest concern, it is the transmission. If the transmission is in good shape now, then keep it that way with fluid changes, oil cooler, etc. As was said, the engine will likely outlive the car.

Come to think of it, I do remember my mom saying she had a1989, and she said it ran phenomenal until the tranny went at 200,000. The Bonneville sounds like the perfect car.
