For the record, the engine is not the biggest concern, it is the transmission. If the transmission is in good shape now, then keep it that way with fluid changes, oil cooler, etc. As was said, the engine will likely outlive the car.

Come to think of it, I do remember my mom saying she had a1989, and she said it ran phenomenal until the tranny went at 200,000. The Bonneville sounds like the perfect car. Well, thanks again to all of you, you have been more than helpful. I am new to GMForum.com, and I can't believe I am finally talking to people that just might know what they are talking about.

i had a 92 lesabre had 262 thousand on it when my aunt wrecked it (never let her touch any of my cars * again) and it ran like it was brand new
