I see you have a GXP . I hardly dare look at them , Id love to own one ,For my wife of course ,I have the lesser of our bonnevilles. I commute and just stack miles and she doest have far to go . Her SSEI stays pretty nice . Do all the GXP '* have a v8. Was 05 the first year ? Im pretty partial to the 3800

Yep all of the GXP'* have V8'*

The Bonneville'* got the 4.6 North Star
The GP'* got the 5.3

The First year for the Bonneville GXP was 04, then being killed off in 05.

is the 5.3 alot better than the 4.6 Is the 5.3 the same as my sub 5.3 If in a couple years I look for them Id want toi know which one I could drive the wheels off without motor problems,

I don't know if I would say it'* better... Although its open to modding alot more then the 4.6

As for it being the same... All GM 5.3'* are mind you im sure this one has a lot of updated internals, and better parts

People on here have said that you can't do much to the 4.6 Northstar, but you get a great transmission since the 4T80E is bolted to it. The 5.3 is easy to mod and find parts, but the transmission isn't up to par, 4T65E which is basically the same one that came with the V6s.

thanks to everyone that replied. I think Ill have my friend remove my tranny , and Ill help. Another friend has a rebuild shop. he is slow but knows GM. If there is any requests I should have for him ,shoot me a message.I like the chat ,dont know if you wil learn alot from me , but the contacts are fun. For now dollar wise gm,bonnevilles/grand prix'* lesabres Malibus ,are the way to go. My last kid went to college to play football at Drake University at Desmoines IA. Maybe he will buy me a GXP someday!!! For now im obsessed by bonnevilles/ Im tire shopping now.,....Never ending
