it would be a 4l60e and it started in the late 90'*. my obs 99 yukon has the same trans. i wouldnt put a used one in there you are just going to have the same failures again. get a upraded one or monster in a box from monster trans

The only way to honestly tell what it has for Transmissions Between the 4L60 and 80 is count the bolts on the Pan !!

16 Bolts says 4L60
17 bolts is the 4L80

$1,290.00

if its the 1500 it is more than likely the 60 but may be the 80 also..80 is just a beefy 60

from talking to a friend here is a better explanation

60 is just renamed 700R4

4L80E is a TH400 with O/D and electronic control

60 will have a square pan and 80 will have a funky shaped one

It'* probably a 4L60E since the Burban has the 5.3.

I would look for another 4L60E that was bolted to a Chevy GenIII motor. So that would be some 99 trucks and large SUVs, and 2000-2006.

The Late 4L60-E transmission has a three piece case of cast aluminum alloy; bellhousing, main case, and tailhousing. GM shortened the package to 21.9" long. They use this style from 1997-2006.
