I'm not saying 500x100 for sure, it was just an estimate, and yeah, what made it stupid was the length of typing after the picture sig.

And at 700 wide, you have to take into account the width of the sidebar and low-res formats. It causes some people to scroll.

well it is 195 with the text. this shoud be taken into account, the above photo shows 800x600 and how that must suck to look thru massive signatures.. ....
but bill:
http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...c.php?t=45426&
Of 40 users polled,
42% use 1024x768
35% use 1280x1024
10% us 1600x1200
7% are using 800x600
Also other people who think many people still have dialup...
http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...net+connection
100% of the 41 users polled had high-speed, that does not mean some here have dialup or really slow dsl connections....

The new policy was determined yesterday morning. It'* not being announced until we hash out the enforcement policy.
I can't expect a member to know how many pixels high their text is, so the new Sig policy will be a little easier to understand than that.
Watch NOTICE for a new post sometime today or tomorrow.

You make a good jesting point, John. (the following is not directed at you)
Some of the Moderators get responses from members not far off what you just said (what you said in jest), and are getting tired of the negative responses. This goes on quite often via PM.
The Moderators have a responsibility to uphold the policies of the Forum, and don't deserve to have * h i t slung at them for trying to do their job. If you're asked to shrink your sig within the new guidelines, do it.
If you have issues with the new policy when it'* announced, PM an Admin.
We're all adults here, so for the betterment of the Forum and the Health of the Moderators, I'd personally like to see the pending transistion go very smoothly.

I was thinking about something though.. Maybe you could add a seperate lounge signature? Basically people goof off in the lounge anyway.. why not let them post up larger signatures there?

I went ahead and shrank my current sig, just in case.
Gives me aq good reason to finally "audit" my web site and resize/rename all my pics (sig-worthy ones, anyways)

One thing I have done is add a cople of mods on my site that allows me to remove the sig or avatar from members at will. I am running the same software as here.
It could be one other way to enforce it, if they don't comply, just remove the sig all together.
I can't remember if that was a feature or a mod I installed though, lol.
