I assumed anodizing would be safe. I thought it was a dye basically absorbed into the surface of the metal. Totally unlike a coating... What am I missing here?

I was just looking at that last night. In his description, he noted that he used high-temp paint, and even it cracked. Then, in the next sentence, he said that it doesn't affect the functionality of the blower in any way...

Yeah, right..... I supposed technically, he'* right. The blower blows just as it always does, it'* the functionality of the engine that suffers.

Interesting, i'll be getting the sandblaster out on my case today.

Do you have new bearings? You'll need them. If you have over 50-60k on the blower when you pull the rotors, change the needle bearings.

If you blast it, change all the bearings in the nosedrive too.

Did you paint your SC? If not, don't sandblast it.

I decided to not sandblast it, it was taking too long. :P

I had it apart anyway because i was sawing it in half for clearance on to a car that it doesn't belong on.

I'm not bothering with bearings or anything, they're pretty disposable at $100 a pop. :P

Did I miss it or how is the test paint doing on the new car? Is it helping to disipate heat from the SC better than the original M62 paint?
Would it be worth the purchase price and time to install on a M90?

Sorry I got off the topic - But that Mystery Paint looks like LIne X. I sold my 1500 hp 68 camaro that had a polished 6:71 supercharger with a progressive nitrous system and how I had to cool it off between runs was using Ice packs to cool the supercharger while tuning. So in short term - its best to just leave the M62 & M90 the way eaton made them and just clean them up them up real good or do what what what wilwren did and Ram -air it for cooling -

It'* not Line-X. In fact, it'* fairly readily available. I had it locally, and Harofreak was able to find it locally when he tested it on his TB.

It'* holding up well. I've cleaned and 'slimed' the engine with detailing spray once so far, and it'* starting to see some good heat cycles. I can't find any cracking or chipping in the finish yet (but do keep in mind I did METICULOUS prep work on it first).

We ice down our superchargers between runs at the track also. It'll be interesting to see how this finish holds up to the heat/cold shock at Woodburn in a few weeks.
