Default got a growl from a new pet...

Newby here... Picked up my first Bonneville. 1995 SSEI. Very nice ride but it does have some issues with super charger I think. Give me your thoughts. At idle I get a small rattle, its not a rythmic rattle, kind of spuratic. The boost gauge sits at -10 at idle and has a very small bounce in the boost needle. WHen I get on the gas the boost engages, as it gets up to about +3-4 or so I get a loud growl from under the hood which I am assuming is the super charger. I havent gotten on it too hard for free of wrecking something, but highest I got boost up to was about +8.

Any thoughts as too what to look for first? are there easy ways to test components too see what is failing? I have searched the forums and gotten some basic know how about the supercharger, any additional info would be great!

if its a small rattle it is probably your coupler. im sure some experts will chime in here but I know you can order a coupler kit from intense racing.com also to check if thats what it is remove your sc belt and see if there is play in the pulley , from my experience if its rotational play its the coupler in and out or left to right play is the bearings. i just had the same issue and the coupler took care of the sc rattle, but once again it depends on what knid of play your getting in your supercharger pulley,, also im sure a moderator will move you but supercharger questions go into the forced induction forum, I made the same mistake on my first post and heres a link to the post on my supercharger http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ic.php?t=94599

You won't find anyone who will rebuild them locally.

Do what we all do and take off the SC and replace the coupler inside the case. Very easy to do. 20 ft-lbs for the case bolts.
Order a coupler from Intense. It comes with the correct sealer to use to button the SC back up.
