Default WTF clock lite and some dials dont lite up?!

after I got my bonnie back from the shop for some reason the clock lites would not work and the preset buttons either, its a 97 sse. If there is a check list to make sure everything is pliged in or fueses or something let me know. Im willing to do allot at this point ... the mechanic took apart the steering colom to fix the highs, and he put some gap thing on my battery and the connectors, he aslos gave me a oil chance and new airfilter.
Hope this is not a serious problem... please help thanks.

the first thing are u sure that you have a SSE cause the car in your sig is a SE or SLE, no matter. The Clock display and backlights have been know to go bad on our radios. I would take it back and tell them to fix it, if it was working before.

I recently got my display light to work by pulling out the head unit, pulling the front off of the radio, there was a little bulb, it wasn't burnt' out but it did have a bad connection, resoldered the connection and now it is as good as new.

Start with the obvious, fuses. The radio and dash lights are interconnected somehow through the fuses (I know, because I blew that fuse rushing through my first head unit install on mine)
