How much of the above picture is right for your car? If you are an SSEi or SSE you will probably not have the two blower relays.

Did you find the relay you hooked to on the driverside or passenger side of the relay box? If driverside, then you could have only hooked to a fan relay which sparked and probably caused no damage. Don't know why you'd be having an issue from that.
