Default Intermittent problems 1991 SSE

I am looking for some help in trying to resolve some intermittent issues with my 1991 SSE 350,000Kms. The following work or do not work at their choice and I am unable to identify any relationships between these issues or the operation of vehicle.
1. remote keyless entry
2. DIC module. Can hear audio signals ie door ajay etc but illumination works sometimes and does not work at other times.
3. Controls on steering wheel.

Hello and welcome to the club.
Start by checking your fuses to these items, then the battery in the remote. If theclip holding the batt is broken it will need to be re- soldered. You can also try reprogramming it. Procedure in tech info I think.
Let us know what you find and we will procede from there.

Done all that. I think problems may relate to grounding issues but if so where do you start?

Cleaned up ground bus on both driver and passenger doors and DIC module and steering wheel control are working. All that is left is the remote control. I know the control module is to be somewhere by glove compartment but there are several other electronic components there. Does anyone have a photo of the exact location and appearance of this module.

Default fuse

also if the fuses check OK pull them out and check that the socket they go into is tight. A bad connection on a fuse will cancel the whole circuit. Had it happen on my 96. the radio and power windows would go out and the fuse was good. Got under the prongs with a tiny screwdriver and tightened up on the socket and it never happened again.

I cleaned the connectors on ground bus and everything seemed fine for about 15 minutes when I again lost the image on DIC. Cleaning of the ground did help a bit so I now wonder if there might still be related to a grounding issue. A line from the grounding bus must terminate to the car body at some location. Where might the location (*) be found so I can check and/or clean as well.

Default cluster

You will have to pull out the cluster and check the green harness wiring in the back for cracks in the wiring. Its common on these units.
