Default headlight problem

I have a 2003 bonneville ssei. Tonught the G.F. Came home and when she got out of the car, with keys in hand. The dinger started sounding like she was leaving somthing on. She closed the door and hit the lock on the fob and head lights stayed on. she would open the door and dinger would contuinue. So she decided to disconnect the battery cable while she was doing this , the lights went off got back in everything was normal started it up and it started doing it again. It takes about 15 min for them to go off. We have got some wet wheather that she was driving in.
I did a search to see if i could come up with anything but no luck.
Any ideas?

Have you tried adjusting the headlight delay switch. On my car it is just to the left of the steering column, next to the know to adjust IP lighting intensity. Turn it one way and there is a lengthy delay in the headlights turning off. Turn it the other way and they turn off right away.

Thanks for the reply. I found the problem this afternoon. It was operator error on her part. LOL I had her try some things last night the switchs was one of them. I was on night shift so i had to wait till morning to look at it. tryed it when i got home, it did just what she was telling me. messed with it for about 30 min or so and give up to get some sleep. Got up in the afternoon started it same thing looked at fusees over nothing. Go to start it agan battery was dead. Got it running decided to take it to the store. Backed up and noticed the turn signal felt wrong. Somewhere in her turning things on she turned the headlights on manualy. Turned it back to off and problem fixed. She drives a ford that turns on the wipers on that side. Don't know that i have even messed with that. But i got dinner out of it because she thought she had broke my car. So all is good.
Thanks again

Sometimes it is the most obvious thing that gets overlooked. That'* why I mentioned the delay control. Happens to all of us.

Thanks for coming back to tell us it worked out.
