electronic climate control
hello everyone, my 97 bonneville se has a problem with its electronic climate control. the digital temperature display flashes off and on for a brief period of time and then stays on steady. only occaisionally do i get heat out of it , no matter what mode or temp setting. could it be the control itself, or does the problem lie beyond that. i don't know much about this system and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as it'* getting cold out here!! thanks in advance,John
I know there are troubleshooting codes for those systems, but I'm not sure what they are. When I had trouble with my system, it ended up being the external temp sensor, which is in front of the radiator on the bumper, if I remember right. It was cheap, like $10 or something at Napa. I'd see if you can find those trouble codes though.
Did a quick search here and found a post by Billboost-
"The flashing is the system telling you it has a fault. Obviously you have discovered that as well. Unfortunately the codes can only be read by a Tech2 scanner and typically it is a dealer only scan."
That was on a '96 Bonnie, but I'm assuming a '97 is probably very similar, if not the same. Do a search on Electronic Climate Control, and you'll find all kinds of info.
