What are you guys talking about?
auto shutting moonroofs?
I leave my moonroof cracked open most of the time... and sometimes fully open.... it only shuts when I close it myself..... both my 91 and 97 are like this.
(However my moonroof motor is still busted on my 91)

Yah I found the shop that installed it through the dealer.
Its an upscale roof with electronics on it. Anytime the signal wire looses 12v it automatically shuts. I tried wiring it to the wiper fuse but it still does the same thing.
The shop said I could hot wire a switch with a diode to the signal wire but the roof could be pulling juice in this mode along with the switch light. could drain the batt.
I guess I'll leave it alone and keep hitting the switch after I open the door to keep it open.
The factory roofs that are on my 90 are just a simple switch with a few relays.
you could leave it anywhere you want to.

Actually, now that you mention it, my truck has retained power but the roof closes as soon as I turn it off. Sounds like they tapped into a retained power circuit instead of an ignition off circuit. Swap that wire over and then when you pull the key you'll be ready to push.
Merlin... aftermarket sunroof'* usually close on their own. We believe stock ones don't because of safety concerns.

wires
thers are two wires.
Red - hot all the time.
red/white - signal wire. When the signal wire looses 12v it auto shuts.
If you re-splice the hot wire your roof may have to go through the learn procedure
every time you shut your car off.

I always suggest soldering and heat shrink tubing whenever possible. It is one of the best connections you can make. Always make sure you insulate any power wires as good as possible.

I tried re-splicing this wire to the wiper fuse and the roof closes immediately when the car shuts off. Then I put it back where it was and soldered it.
Its when this signal wire LOOSES voltage it signals the roof to close.
no easy way around it other than to hit the swtch every time you open the door.
