Default bare wires to fuel injector

I was the cleaning my....new to me... 95 SE Bonnie and found the wires to the front center fuel injector in really rough shape. One wire seems fine, another had a bare spot about an inch long on one side of the wire. The last one looks to be bare from the harness to the injector.
Is it okay to simply unplug the connector to the top of the injector and rewrap the wires?

My electrical tape was garbage in the cold weather and wouldn't stick so for now the tape just keeps the wire separate from each other.

This may be some of my cars hesitastion problem, yes? I plan to get all the tune up parts in come spring, O2 sensor, fuel filter, plugs and wires. I'm getting 22 to 25mpg with mostly freeway travel. I was on a car review site and they said 25 was all a Bonnie will get. Hoping for better when on a trip. 1st year Series II motor.

other question...My 95 has a plain headlight switch. Is that one 95 specific like the twilight sentinal or is it cross year generic?

Yes, you can unplug the injector to wrap the wire. Or consider some of the paintable electrical tape stuff.

On the 95, even though you don't have twilight sentinel...the switch is most likely a 95 specific. The nice thing about the 95 cars is the 96-99 switches will mate right up to the connector and you will be able to change it out. Are you having lighting issues from the switch? If so.. pull it and check the connector for any melting.

well.....of course I figured out that there are only two wires to the injectors. The third one that looked good was just the stiff electrical tape that was grooved to look like the wires that came out of it.

The liquid electrical tape is GREAT!! Works fantastic and leaves a really clean look.

How about a picture for the club of the paintable tape on the wiring.
