Advance is actually not a bad store to deal with. Never was sold on their Alternators tho. The Delco remans, on the other hand, seemed to work very well.

I talked to a couple of guys that used to work for AC delco, and they said that the testing standards were very stringent... AC Delco would test all of the Alternators made for them.. And would only accept the units that passed their tests, the rest would be sent back...
I almost laughed when the Advanced auto parts guy told me that the ( I think it was UP or Pridemark maybe... Been a while I forget ) were the compainies that made alternators for Ac Delco...
I still say you get what you pay for

I still have to be careful which person I talk to though. Last Friday I went to buy brake parts for my truck and the counter guy told me the hardware for the inner disc pads was special order. I thought that was odd and thought I would try to re-use the existing. Turns out the last guy to work on the brakes before I got the truck left out the spring clips (which was a reason they wore poorly), so I called to order the clips and the guy on the phone said, "Oh, yeah we have them in stock." WTF?
Short story...he said you can't trust "that guy...he doesn't know what he'* talking about." Good to know.
