Default Giving "Pontiac" logo on back a glow

Okay it'* late night... I seem to get a lot of crazy ideas during the hours around midnight.

So, do you see the word "Pontiac" on the center tail light here, like I have on my '96 SE?

I'm wondering how I could get that to light up... really fly the pontiac colors.

Optimally, I'm thinking having the glass clear and shine red the same as the tail lights when I brake, OR have it on when my headlights are on.
I might settle for some sparkle/reflective paint...

Has anyone opened it up and gone back there? Think a few lightbulbs would work? And how could it be wired? I guess the easiest would be to have it tie into the brake lights (those stay on when my headlights turn on anyway, right?) and just splice them into the same wires...

Worst case scenario the plastic would have to be cut out with a dremel or something and the right kind of plastic put in for the light to be red. Ever since I've been looking at cleared tail/head lamps it'* been bothering me.

Has anyone done this before?

Great minds think alike? haha.

Yeah I was planning to do something like he is, I had a hunch there was plastic or something behind there I could rub/cut off. Just slap some lights back there, tap it over again with black tap to keep the glow from going where it doesn't need to, and wire it up.

It'* such a tease, not being able to see those images. *PMs Bill*

I've done a couple of mods to the B'ville. The light up tail is probably one of the favorites. Best way I've found to light it up is to "borrow" an led strip off the trunk of any old car in the junkyard that had one mounted on the lid. 12-14" in length is perfect for the Pontiac mod. The key is to use the trunk mounted one because it'll be durable enough to handle being on the trunk.

My thoughts exactly. LED'* are def the way to go. they seem to "fill" better in these situations.
