Default Giving Back The Bonneville

so long story short, after paying almost a thousand dollas in payments to my folks last year for the bonneville, they decided to "give" it to me last christmas, we signed a contract that stated i was responsible for the upkeep and all that crap AND they could use it wenever they needed....WELL...i have yet to get my liscense (this week or next hopefully) and they have been driving it everyday. but it has been breaking down alot and now im up to $1000 in debt to them cuz they needed it fixed to use, so they "fronted" the cash and im supposed to pay it all back.......I HAVENT DRIVEN THE THING IN OVER 6 MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!!!! so u kno wat...they can have it. im tellin them to keep it, and that i wont owe them, and if they rely wanna play numbers games , ill piont out that im loosing out on 400 dollars by just giving it back to them (its a long confusing story) Anyways, i went and looked at a 1963 Impala today and fell in love, needs some work, but its clean and will run and drive. dude wants $1500 for it....i can iether trry to get a loan, or just wait and save a couple months.....im sry guys, its just rely becoming a pain..and i hate to give her up, she was my first car...my first love

Sounds like it was a rip off in the first place. You signed a pretty crappy contract.

ummm you don't drive it but have to maintain it for them to drive ?

not hapining if they are the drivers of it then they need to maintain it that is a pretty shitty thing for your parents to do to you

You don't even have a license, so what kind of "deal" would that be? Essentially all that means is that they drive it, you fix it. Yeah, uh uh... don't think so...

Yeah...I know what its like...I've paid for everything for both my bonnevilles but yet my mother has driven both freely like they're hers Never paid for 1 damn bit of maintenance or labor, yet she calls them BOTH hers. What kinda crap is that.

But umm, I REALLY wouldn't recommend having a daily driver as old as that! Parts for those aren't always cheap..and unless you've got the time for things to go wrong...you don't want to be relying on something that old. If you don't even have your license yet...I'm not sure why its even a concern. Tell your parents to service their own damn car.

like i said, im planning on getting my liscense in a week or so and i'd need a car. i've dreamed of havin a hot rod for as long as i can rememeber. plus, if something does go wrong...i can getr to school and work with out a car very easily. so, it will be more a pleasure than a neccesity.

I, too, would reccomend something newer/more reliable, but if you have alternative transport, then go for it. The 63 was one of the classiest looking cars around.
BTW, is it an actual Impala, or a retrimmed Biscayne? It'* a very common thing to add the extra taillight and trim on those. Check the VIN/serial#/whatever. I'm not sure what to look for, but any classic car forum should have that info.
