Hi folks,
Now that I've taken a real close look at my interior, I find I am annoyed by the large cracks found on the passenger side SIR cover.
I was at a wreckers last weekend, and found an SSE with a black interior. (Mine is grey)
I decided to try to remove the cover in the junkyard car (no battery, no worries about deployment) to get some "practice". Pretty tough to get off. I could hear it ripping, so I left it alone.
Any ideas on how I can fix mine? Some spot putty and interior touch up paint??
Are they hard to remove and replace? Anyone remove one before??
Obviously not a big priority, and it'* something one would expect to find on a 13, almost 14 year old car, but it would be nice to have it fixed up.
Thanks in advance.
Adam

To change the air bag... you have to remove the dash.
Hang ...it'* not really that bad
I helped Badnit swap his out in one day. Including a bunch of special wiring etc.

if ya take the glove box out, take the plastic cover off... well sorta rip it off. cant ya get to it that way??? im thinkin you can get to it through the box.. but ya have to be pretty flexable or just have a cramped position for a few minutes....
i took on outa a bville once and pretty sure 99.9% poss thats how i did it...

its harder that everyone thinks....the SIR cover is cut partly on the underside but NOT separated from the dash when it comes out of the factory
here is the back of the dash

your gonna have to pry pretty hard to get the cover off.....then you have to deal with How its attached to the dash and securing that....
honesly your better off with the cracked piece

Hmm, I might be best to leave well enough alone.
Thanks for your advice.
I might try spot putty in a small spot, and see if that gets me any where.
Maybe I can find a cool Bonneville.com decal and put it over top??

Thanks for the links.
Looks like some good products there that might do the trick.
It'll be tough to re-coat the pad and make it blend in.
It'* the worst part of my interior, sort of takes away from the overall look.
