Clearcoat starting to peel off hood!?!?
So about a month or so ago I was looking at my STE and I noticed a 3X2" spot on my hood where the color was duller. At first I thought it was just dirt or something, but when I washed the car it didn't go away. I looked close at it and figure out that the clearcoat from that spot of the hood was gone. Another spot about 1X1" has shown up since then. Does anybody know what I can do to prevent this from happening more? And is there any easy way to fix the part that the clearcoat came off or not?
Thanks,
Shawn

Cut polish will clean it up but you will loose the clear coat protection and that will have to be reapplied. The blisters are likely the cause of heat from the engine bay, turbo running hot?

Its GM'* late 80s paint.. If its only on the hood your lucky, if you have some place to reclear it your even luckyer... Id say get a razor blade, and peal it all off (it sickens me that it came off that easy on my 87). Leave the paint(lightly wet sand it so its smooth), once all the clear is off, reclear it(if you can) or get a shop to do it.

I know that its because of GM'* late 80'*/early 90'* paint, but I would like to at least be able to keep it from happening more. It makes sense that it is peeling off due to heat because the hood doesn't have the blanket on it. It was gone when I got it, and I wasn't too worried about it, but if the paint is starting to peel because of it, maybe I will have to try to get a new one.
But really I am just looking for a way to try to prevent more of it from peeling, because I don't want the car to look like most of the other late 80'*/early 90'* GM cars with the whole car having paint missing off of it.

If the clearcoat is coming off, Get it repainted
Hello,
No matter what try, You will have to get the top part of the car repainted. Gm had a problem with their Primer. I had an 93 Olds 88 that was maroon with the clear coming off, The only fix was a repaint. Sad but true. Sorry to burst your bubble.
