Just use a 3 stage wax system, and even try mild rubbing compound or 'swirl-mark' remover (3M brand for example) is good to use.

King Zentic
I use the 1Z Einszett line of products.

I also use a Porter Cable 724 Random Orbital Buffer with a 5 inch backing plate and an assortment of pads to polish my three vehicles. I also like and use 3M brand of swirl mark remover.

Once the automibile paint is polished I use Zaino to protect the finish.

A good polish will help clearcoats. Rubbing compounds are too extreme for this though.

Meguires makes Scratch-X as well. It'* for well, removing scratches.
