I wear a vinyl painting suit, and it gets washed down between coats.

The dart is remasked, and re-painted green (after scuffing), and my masking is designed to be peeled back in layers. I'll expose one more inch in a few minutes, and re-clear. Also re-clearing a vent I wasn't happy with. It just got wet-sanded back down.

Lookin good so far Bill.
That Arrow Head will soon be looming menacingly in the rear view mirrow of many cars soon, as a premonition of the pass to come.

I would have painted the vents RED.

Ya, those twin vents with the protruding arrow in the middle........would look downright Penile.

Oh that looks much better.

I like the subtleness of the dart and how it blends in with the hood without looking too outstanding.
In that case, keep the vents hood colour also for that stealth look.

It'* a little more subtle now. I spent a couple hours yesterday breaking that clearcoat edge down to a bare hint with 600, 800, 1000, and then 1500 grit, then rubbing compound on an orbital buffer. I'm also hitting the entire hood with 1500, then the orbital with rubbing compound. I'll finish up with an Random Orbital and polishing compound. The dart looks much more 'finished' now than it did before, especially since the clear didn't lay down over the second attempt as well as the rest of the hood.

Coming along nicely, but I still have a bit more work to do over the next couple days:

As you can see here, I have another pass or two to do with the buffer, then the polisher:

Thanks for your help. The phone advice was invaluable. Every coat of paint all the way through the clear laid down BEAUTIFULLY. It'* only that last bit of clear over the refreshed logo that didn't, and it wasn't too bad.

For those that don't know, PeterG had no idea I was doing this until I'd already sprayed color (or about then). I called him for some pointers to make sure I was on the right track with the ghost image. Didn't want to screw that up like I ended up doing the first time. Then again, neither of us could have known that the tape rated for all types of paint would have a problem with some types of paint. Other than that, this whole process worked like a charm.
