Default Engine Transmission SWAP question

Someone recently killed my 2000 Chevy Impala with the 3800 Series II Engine. I am wondering can the transmission from the 2000 Impala go into a 2010 Impala with 3500 Series Engine. The 2010 Impala has a bad Transmission and needs an Alternator. Well since I have a car I am about to be forced to junk. If I can use the transmission I save on buying one. Putting the entire 3800 Series II with the transmission into the other car IS NOT OUT of the question if just the transmission can't be swapped.

Your best bet would be to check with a GM parts department.......

Doing both involves PCM, harnesses, mounts, etc., if in fact it can be done....

I'd bet the final drive ratio is different, so you'd need a reprogram at the least. Around 2003 the internal electronics were changed, so you'd probably have to spend a lot of time figuring that out . . . if it is possible to convert without major disassembly.

I don't think the 3800 was ever in the 2006-2013(or -2016 fleet edition). It may require a bunch of fab work . . . ?

Big question would be: How much work and time would you want to put into it.
