Default 2000 Impala LS Wireless Remote will not program

We bought a used 2000 Impala LS and it did not have any keyless entry remotes. We checked which remote was for the vehicle KOBUT1BT and tried to program the remote...we've used several remotes and each of them will not program. I've tried using the radio prompts..... going to the Key FOB program in the radio and tried..... did not work..... Used a GM Tech 2 tool to program remote....still did not work. What can we look for now is the problem?

Well,

1. Sure they are the correct remotes?

2. Are they working? There is a tool to check this....

3. You have access to a Tech II? Then you must have checked for all codes, especially U and B codes.....

Did you check to see if there were "spaces" for remotes.....we are talking about an 18 year old car, that may have had it'* limits of remotes programmed to it....

If this is the case, the old remote programs have to be deleted from the vehicle before you can program another....

I've done it all but check to see how many remotes have been programmed.....and how they are erased. For some reason I cannot find how to do that.

Ok, today I got one of the remotes to program....but it'* very sporadic in it'* operation. It works sometimes, but not others.... it does have a brand new battery in it (I've tried several brand new batteries in it, and it'* still the same)...... I have several remotes and cannot get any of the other ones to program..... just this one, and it'* a toss up if it'll work every time.

Where did you get these "new" remotes?

I've gotten them from several different sources, and had problems with each of them, even the ones that came with a vehicle.

Maybe you should bite the bullet and buy one from a GM dealership....at least you know you will get the correct remote....and if it works you know the others are junk or wrong...
