2018 Malibu Check Engine Symbol
Has anyone had a similar problem, or could someone provide me with some advice. Our 2018 Malibu with 18,000K and still under warranty would not start or turn over. After numerous attempts it finally started, but the StabilTrack and Check Engine Symbols came on. I could not go over 20 mph. on our way home. It was a Sunday and no dealership was open. I made an appointment ASAP at our Chevy Dealership. The car started and I could drive at highway speeds but the Check Engine Symbol was still on. Service department removed Check Engine Symbol but said they were unable to find the problem, as the computer reset itself. I find that hard to believe. They said to bring it in the next time it acts up but leave the car running. My concern is where I will be when this happens or be stranded in some strange location. Why could they not find the problem if the light was still on? I found on google search that GM has a class action law suit against them for a Electronic Throttle Control Recall needing frequent repair. When I asked the Service department concerning that issue, they said, that item is a sensor and has a GM extended warranty up to 120,000K or year 2028 expiration date. Just bring it in if it happens and it will be taken care of. So if anyone has had a similar issue, please send a reply.
Thank you

Thank you CathedrelCub for the reply. The Service Dept. said that the computer reset itself when I turned off the engine. If that was the case, why was the Check Engine Symbol still on? My concern is if this happens after warranty expires, I will be stuck with a high bill. I would hate to think this is a cover up to side step there responsibility to repair. And no they did not tell me any code or codes as they said none came up. I picked up the car and seems fine for now. Hope for the best.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
They can still pull up what the last code was.
I'm suspicious of them.
Get a cheap code reader. Next time the light comes on you'll be able to read the codes and tell us (and a dealership) what they are.

Thanks for the comment CarFixer007. This dealership has been around for 50 years and prides itself on their quality Service Dept. That is why I was baffled with their inability to get the codes.
