Default 2005 Chevy Equinox Starts and Runs but Lights Flicker

Hello all. My wife owns a 2005 Equniox LS. Last night while driving she noticed her light were extremely dim. After she pulled into her spot she said everything started clicking (still running) while I was on the phone so I advised her to shut it off. After about 5 minutes I asked her to try and start it again which it didnt turn over just clicked like a dead battery. After it sat for a couple hours she called me back and said she started it up just fine and let it run for about 5 mins. As soon as she opened the door it started to do the clicking and flickering thing again. At first I was thinking alternator, but after reading around it may be another issue. I wont be able to get the car to the house for a few days, I was just curious if anyone else has had a similar issue and advice. Im tech savy but not so much on the electrical end. Thanks in advance for the help.

Does the dash have a voltage gage? Did it show the vehicle was charging?

How old is the battery?

We have had it for about 6 months and the battery looked quite well...as far as age i am completly unsure. It doesnt have a voltage gauge only temperature. When she first called me she said the battery light was coming on then going out. Then while i was on the phone ahe said it was clicking and flickering... After she shut it off...it would not start. Then an hour later it started just fine until she opened the door. Im hoping she gets it home before i get off work so I can verify this for sure..

It sounds like the battery is ok, because given, time, it can "recover" and restart the vehicle.......since the Bat light was on, it sounds like the alternator is the problem....

I got the car home last night, got the alternator installed and found out the battery was bad as well. Also noticed some loose wiring so once I took both battery and alternator to get tested to make sure. Both were bad. Im thinking that the loose wiring killed it. I also notice it needs alot of underside work I do not think is going to worth. The wife drives it so I never noticed anything "different". Maybe time to get rid of it.
Thanks for all the help.
