Default 2002 camaro harmonic balancer

I have a 2002 Camaro, and my harmonic balancer has a slight wobble, it doesn't make any noise, or have any movement when the belt is pulled on. but thats not my question, my question is this... did GM change the balancer from the '99 3800 II v6 to the 2002 v6. the reason i ask is NOT one single company makes an aftermarket balancer for the 2002 model, but they have ones for the '95-99 models. and GM has discontinued the HB for the V6. I have one from Pioneer Inc. and they seem to think their '99 version should be compatible with my 2002 V6. I really need a definitive answer on this. Thanks

I don't see what the issue would be. L36 engines are the same from 1995-2005. L67(supercharged engines) are the same from 1996-2005

The thing is, The part is prone to failure. I would prefer to not just replace it with another used part that could fail again.

I didn't know they were prone to failure? And I have owned 2 different 3800 powered cars over the years.

Ditto. Had a 2001 Camaro with the 3800 and no issues. Now a 2002 Bonne and no issues, with the HB anyway.

Well I'm sure there are always exceptions to the rule. though like i said, my concern is if the aftermarket part i ordered that is stated as a '99 replacement is going to work on my car without damaging the engine. It isn't exactly a risk I want to take without assurance that it won't cause catastrophic engine or hood damage. and trying to getting answer from GM is proving difficult. thanks again.

you should be good. if i remember correctly, the rubber ones liked to seperate and wobble. causing noises and vibration and the like. when you do go to remove it, it requires the chrysler puller, (chicken foot lookin one) with bolts you buy yourself. if i remember correctly, they are 1/4" thread. (had to do the same job on a 96 v6. camaro.)

as long as the slight wobble wont be detrimental to the operation of the car I suppose I can let it go till I find the right part to fix it. thanks for all the feedback
