08 Impala "Engine Overheating AC Off Message"
The Engine Overheating AC Off Message comes on intermittently and while it'* on the temperature gauge is all the way on cold, and the Radiator Fans run on high all the time....easy fix I thought....bad temp sensor......so I replaced it and everything was working normally......4 days later it started doing the same thing again.... I thought, well, that temp sensor was bad, so I replaced the sensor again and everything started working normally.....2 days later it started doing the same thing again....... but I noticed after a while the message went off, the Temperature Gauge and the Radiator Fans started working correctly again, about an hour later the message came on again, the gauge stopped working, and the radiator fans came on again.....what'* going on? A bad connection in the wiring......diagnosing a wiring issue is a pain....has anyone had similar and can offer some advice?
They make replacement connectors. They are really cheap. I suggest soldering it and not crimp-connecting it. When she brings it over you can replace it.
If you want to look before you leap, check for a dirty connection and any sign of a weak or damaged wire or gaps between the wires' sheaths and the connector itself where the wire goes into the conenctor.

I replaced the pigtail...... I drove it for 2 weeks and the problem never came back...... she took it home, and had it for 3 days and the message came back on (ugh)...I thought it was fixed since it never came back in the 2 weeks that I dove it daily. The temp gauge on the dash stopped working, and the radiator fans started running on high all the time, so I suspect there may be another wiring problem, but the wires go up underneath the intake plenum....I am going to have to remove that to view the wiring.
Sorry to hear that.
For what it'* worth I think you're on the right track. Maybe while fiddling with it, the part that actually has the problem got fiddled into just the right position and worked fine, leading you to believe that you fixed it . . . only to have it un-fiddle itself while your daughter drove it home.
As a preliminary diagnostic step, you might want to have her wiggle that wire around carefully and see if that changes anything.
