Default Cruise control won't slow

My 2004 Seville'* cruise control will keep good speed on level ground or uphill but going downhill there'* no engine braking and will gain speed. Like gain 15 or 20 mph if downhill is long enough. Tach is not increasing. Like it'* freewheeling.

So you're saying I should not run into slower cars to slow down. Great advice.

What do you think you are driving? EV'* can brake on their own but not what you drive.

It'* always recommended to read your owners manual prior to operating unfamiliar equipment....

Using Cruise Control on Hills How well your cruise control will work on hills depends upon your speed, load and the steepness of the hills. When going up steep hills, you may have to step on the accelerator pedal to maintain your speed. When going downhill, you may have to brake or shift to a lower gear to keep your speed down. Applying the brake or shifting into a lower gear will take you out of cruise control. If you need to apply the brake or shift to a lower gear due to the grade of the downhill slope, you may not want to attempt to use your cruise control feature
Per your 2002 Deville owners manual. https://www.cadillac.com/bypass/pcf/...k02deville.pdf

Although it feels exciting, but for your own safety. Down shift or use your brake.
