Default Rocker Arm Play

Hey all,

I've got a 2002 Lesabre (3800). I replaced rocker arm bolts with re-useable bolts, and torqued them to 30 lbs. (Instructions said 25-30). Four out of six of the rocker arms have a whole lot of play in them. What should I do?

This is a big question.

Why did you replace the bolts in the first place?

Yeah. We need more of the story. What are re-usable bolts? Non TTY?

I replaced the bolts because I changed the head gasket. TTY bolts can't be reused, so I replaced them.

Yes, reusable bolts are not TTY bolts.

This appears to be an improper assembly. If GM calls for TTY bolts and these were engineered for TTY bolts, and I know of no specification for using non TTY bolts for this, so there is no way this is torqued to the proper specification.

Regarding the original question:

Is the cam installed?

Are all of the lifters installed in exactly the same positions as they were before?

Are the rockers installed in exactly the same positions as they were before?

Were all of the pushrods in exactly the same positions as they were before

Where is the play in each rocker arm? Between the arm and the stand/bolt head or between the ends of the arms and the valve and/or pushrod?

Can you post pictures and/or a short video?
