Put the old one back in and see what happens.

Why did you swap it out to begin with?

pretty sure you have to have the dealer flash all your data on those before it will work, surprised it starts at all. what was the "reset procedure"

I agree with Justin, I have always heard that the dealer will have to flash them for you.

On the newer cars, the days of taking, "a known good part" out of one vehicle and trying it in another vehicle, is over....Most modules on the newer vehicles have the VIN number of the vehicle programmed into them....taking a module out of another vehicle with a different VIN, and in some cases, the other modules will not communicate with it....

The same number BCM can be used in different models of vehicles....but the module has to be programmed specifically, by the dealer, for that vehicle.....

Early BCM'* had to be programmed according to the RPO codes of the vehicle....if you did not program an option into the new BCM, it could not be added later....had to get a new BCM....remember replacing BCM'* in early Rendevous'* and Aztec'*, on a frequent basis....

The BCM is the "traffic cop" of communication of the car...just one circuit goes, and the whole BCM has to be replaced....I remember the first time I diagnosed a w/* wiper problem on a Regal, and it turned out to be the BCM....the cost of replacing the BCM and reprogramming it, was way more costlier than the usual wiper wiper switch or circuit board on the wiper motor....but this is the trend car manufacturers have taken....

Remember the old days, when your dimmer switch went bad, you just replaced that low cost part?,,,,,or the wiper switch, that didn't cost much?.....or the cruise switch, that didn't cost much?.....but then came the multifunction switch, at 350 bucks a pop....you lose one switch, you end up replacing all three because it is just one unit....

Car manufacturers are forcing customers, who tend to keep their vehicles longer than the warranty period, to buy extended warranties, because the cost of repair is too high....the days of the DIY'er, and even boards like these, are coming to an end......how can the average guy keep up with the latest technology or have the tools for proper diagnosis?

I remember the last GM class I went to...."smart" window motors were coming out in Cadillac'*...try diagnosing that system without a Tech II scan tool....never mind the cost of the damn motor, too....

OK, I'm done ranting....back to the movie.....

key on tell security light go'* off 3 times then it would start the one that takes 30 mins
was the reset and if you have to get one you just get a rebuilt one and do the same thing? or are we talking of having to have a teck 2 scanner ? I know some auto stores here do the PCM program if you have to replace the eng ECU

well AutoZone can order per say a PCM flashed you give them the vin and mileage
but after playing with 3 dash clusters looks like mileage is stored on the cluster
so are they ready to go after that?
the price is the same flash or not
and 1 O'reillys here will flash at the store first they say wanted 80 buicks to do it
but they have a match price deal so it can be done at no extra cost
so I guess the body control mod would be flashed using same equipment???
and looking on ebay looks like lots of stuff out of china will do it?
so it says if it will is a other story I guess
the guys at O'reillys says its a different pcm connections and a lap top they use
sounds like china ebay connections? but I am just guessing
