I would like
e to do away with the donut spare with a real tire and wheel, I measured the compartment a 25 inch tire would fit. Looking for suggestions on what will work.

It is a 98 Park Ave, popped the spare, looking for ideas. Spoke to my shop guy, says I should look into 14" steel wheels with a tire height of 24". I need to get better measurements of the space where the doughnut was, a tape across looked like a tight 25". Want to check depth and width at the bottom.

PA has a huge trunk.......why not use the well as a storage space for items you rarely use, and just get a full size tire? It can just lay in the trunk on one side.....of course, if you use your trunk a lot for transporting things, then it is not feasible....
Another idea is an inflatable tire repair kit....no need for a spare......

I don't know how 14" wheels will get along with the brakes, or even 15" wheels for that matter.
You will also want to make a note of how deep the well is, as that can also limit the width that can be accommodated.
It looks like a 205/55r16 may be a viable size given your well width measurement given.
Even then though, you are still at a temporary use status anyway, as it could be enough of a difference to upset the balance of the car.
