How do I remove the front motor mount on a 1993 Buick LeSabret? The GM manual shows you removing the long bolt that goes through the centre of the bushing and it just separates. That is not the case for me. I have removed the bolts from the engine as well. There appears to be a centre piece connected as well that moves with the motor side of the cast iron bracket. I remove two bolts on the frame side of the mount but then found two more at the bottom and I don't see how removing them will allow me to remove the motor mount.

I need to get this motor mount out of the way so I can pull the timing cover off.

If you remove the lower two the frame side mount will slide up through the engine half of the mount and the engine side will pull away and up. I went through this a while back to change a water pump...twice actually as you cannot install the water pump pulley with the mount in place. The old pump was wobbly and I could pull it off but the new pump would not allow that.

If it is the stock configuration, you will need to remove the center bolt that goes through the bushing. When that bolt comes out, you will need to jack the engine up, and the engine side of the mount should lift straight off of the frame side of the mount.

If you start jacking, and it starts taking the car with it, you will likely need to free up the mount, which could be held together with corrosion.

If I was faced with a motor mount that was stuck together, I would jack up the motor, take some of the weight of the car with it, and then smack the frame side of the mount with a hammer and a block of wood. When it frees up, the car will drop back to the normal height.

I got the mount off. I did not understand how these mounts are made. It is design as a manufacturing aid so they can just drop the motor in and it will sit down on top of the part that bolts to the frame of the car. I really hate the way they don't give any thought to repair work. I had to jack the engine up just as far as I dared to clear it. It would have been a piece of cake if they had not used a stud on the top of the mount that bolts to the engine block. The problem was getting clearance to clear that stud. I am sure it will be just as much of a problem putting it back on.

You can lower the sub frame a bit as well. Just undo the front bolts and loosen the rear ones. You can drop it a few inches without a problem.

I have all the bolts out but the bushing to frame mount is stuck...but it looks like the sleeve that runs threw the bushing goes into the ears of the block bracket. But that shouldn't be. I have not tried a hammer yet.

This is Easter so maybe you get a pass but you just resurrected a 7 year old thread. Best to let this go and start a new thread for your problem. I and others here can help you with that.
