Defrost is the default position for most cars. Check the vacuum hoses at your passenger side firewall in the engine compartment. I had to replace 2 pieces of hose there to get my system to blow to the vents and/or floor.

Just remove the passenger side hush panel, and I believe that glove box has retainers in the upper corners, that allows you to flip it out of the way, otherwise, you remove the screws and then you have access to see everything you need....I believe it is the purple colored plastic hose that is your vac source...

So check for vac with engine running, and check that the temp actuator moves when you change temps on the control head...if it doesn't, just pop out the silver linkage, to the arm of the temp door, and manually move it to see if you get a temp change out of defrost....

If you are in there you should be good to go. Let me know if you need any service info. More than likely it'll be a problem with the vacuum. Probably at the manifold.

The actuator arm does not move. I had the engine running and the controls on. I moved the heat selector lever from cold to hot and back and watched. The lever arm did not move.

Is there a fuse that I should check, are is it on the same circuit as the blower?

The vacuum lines at the control box looked OK. I have not yet checked the manifold on the engine.

Does the cruise control work? If not the vacuum is more likely the problem. Diagrams coming and flow chart coming.

Here'* the flow chart and vacuum and wiring diagrams. You should be good to go with these.

I drove the car to work this morning. I bit cool, but not bad.

When I get home, I plan to take the silver linkage out and try turning the motor - carefully - by hand.

Just like in the shop manual, except a little more straight forward.
