Default New to the forum and need help with Evaporator

I bought a 2000 Buick Regal with a bad 3.8 liter motor that I replaced. Got all things working as they should except the A/C. No leaks in the engine compartment, compressor or condenser. I am guessing it almost has to be the evaporator.

Is this a "drop the dash" project or can it be done another way.

Thanks.

Not positive on the year, but the whole hvac unit has to come out to get to the evaporator.........rare for the evaporator......

I would not do it it unless I was absolutely positive it was the evaporator.......either by a sniffer or getting in there with a black light after dye has been put in there......

Have you put refrigerant in the system and it leaked out quickly?

I brought the car into a trusted garage and they put the dye in. A day later all had leaked out. Brought it back and they could not see any signs of the dye under the hood.
