1995 Lesabre has mind of it'* own?? lol
Hi. I'm working, and have been for quite a few weeks now, on my 1995 Buick Lesabre Custom 3.8. Was losing coolant then it started running bad, stalling out, hard to start etc. I have no way to check the codes!! OBD-1 system with OBD-2 connection?? I have done these repairs so far: Installed new lower intake gaskets. Installed a new upper intake w/new gaskets. Thermostat. MAF sensor, IAC valve. Ran a week or two then wouldn't start trying to go home from work. Replaced crank position sensor ran but still intermittently acting same as above. Replaced cam sensor. That'* when I found the wires going to it were rubbed bare probably causing my issues. Fixed those wires and looked at wiring to crank sensor found same thing! Wires rubbed raw on lower radiator hose? fixed that. Ran well a lil while then started acting same as above and still is. I think I need to search fore more bad wiring and plan to today. My question, finally, how can I make sure I did the lower intake gaskets properly? Not losing coolant and car runs great til it don't want to! I have a pneumatic coolant system pressure tester and cheap vacuum tester so can someone tell me what parameters vacuum should be within and what is an acceptable amount of leak-down on cooling system? Also, would like to know ABSOLUTELY what code reader I need on a slim budget??? Phew! I would greatly appreciate any and all help!!!

I thought you said in the beginning that you were losing coolant?
Your not going to find a cheap code reader for what you need. Go to Actron'* website and find one for 1995.

cheaper but more technical, you have to source the hardware separate for the software this way
OBD Diagnostics, Inc. - OBD2 All-In-One Scan Tool w/ USB

Yes I did. My friend (Goodwrench Master Tech) informed me as to what was wrong. I thought the stalling, hard starting and check engine light etc. were stemming from that so I did all those repairs I mentioned.

Hey Buddy. I have another question about my buick 1995 lesabre 3.8. Out of nowhere, my trans lost 1st gear and the speedometer quit at the same time. From a stop I have no 1st gear at all even when I pull it down manually. Seems like it shifts into 3rd and 4th fine. Reverse is good too. Solenoid??
